19 Sep Grief and loss is a part of every adoption
A birth mother is working through her grief and loss throughout the entire pregnancy and beyond. She is grieving the loss of her child. This grief is one of the reasons why openness in adoption is so important. Receiving texts, emails, having get-togethers, etc. allows the birth mother to know that her child is loved, healthy, and well taken care of. Although openness does not erase the feelings of grief and loss, it does allow the birth mother to find peace about her decision to place her child for adoption.
